I grew up on 210 Loring Street, too. We spent many happy weekends there with my Lola, the mayor doma of an American expat who rented the property, and a lot of our other lolo's, lola's, tito's and tita's and older cousins who were all part of the household staff. Lola's employer, Lolo Cleland, didn't have relatives here and so we were all very easily considered as family. He would celebrate holidays and birthdays with us. My parents' wedding party was held there. My mom showed me the spread on you in the Sunday Inquirer Magazine on May 4, 2008. It sure brought back many happy memories in Loring. I think of Loring often. I still think of someday living in a home as big. It is one of my mental pictures of "happy times". Congratulations on your exhibit and for fanning the flames of change. GOD BLESS YOUR ENDEAVORS.

I am a Pasay resident and on good sunny days for walking, I would take a short cut through Loring Street when I turn from Park Avenue on my way to the MRT station. I do get to see the denizen of shanties just down the road, a few meters from the gentrified gates of the Duemila gallery and some of the houses there. I have always been struck by the stark contrast of the two worlds in this small corner of Pasay, and I wondered, though living elbow-to-elbow, if the paths of the people in these two worlds do come together behind the high walls of the big houses' compounds.

When I discovered this blog, I guess I will wonder no more. I am curious as to what came of your workshop with the young girls. Perhaps when I walk down Park Avenue and take that short cut through Loring again, I might find myself checking out the photographs and find how the power of images have transformed how the girls view the world and themselves.
